Welcome to the SEAL Karamoja Project in Uganda!

SEAL Karamoja stands for "Skills Empowerment for Alternative Livelihood" and precisely this is the overall objective: to support young people through skills and entrepreneurship training in order to help them to a self dependant life.

In Karamoja, a region situated in the North-East of Uganda, live about 1 Million people. Due to historical and traditional reasons, the region is mainly untouched by modern foreign practices and by consequence the formal education and modernization have largely been rejected by the population until now. Given the above circumstances, alternative livelihood in Karamoja is an important issue that has to be considered and addressed in order to give the young Karimojong the opportunity to acquire skills in at least one trade that is marketable in the region. This is the objective of the Project  SEAL: through Trainings in so called "Learning Groups" the young Karimojong get a chance for a market-oriented education and therewith the opportunity to escape unemployment and poverty  – A contribution to the economic development and the peace in Karamoja.
